I was recommended to Dr. Ditkoff as one of the leading eye specialists in America. I came over from the UK and was very nervous about having my eye operated on, but after the care and professionalism shown to me at the initial consultation, I decided to go ahead with the procedure and returned a few weeks later. Those “it changed my life” advertisements that you see and never believe…well for me it was true. I have not worn my glasses or even thought about them since the LASIK treatment. Even driving at night in the rain is not a problem.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Dr. Ditkoff, and my husband is due to go to New York shortly for an initial consultation himself.

February 2005 marks the third anniversary of the lasik surgery procedure that I had done by Dr. Ditkoff of the Park Avenue Eye Institute.

It has been, without a doubt, one of the best decisions I have ever made. I started wearing glasses in the third grade, then hard contact lenses in my teens, then soft contacts in my twenties and thirties, and then back to glasses again. I was extremely nearsighted, my contacts were -8.50!

I must have spent thousands of dollars on glasses, contacts, cleaning solutions, etc. One time I slept in my contacts one day too many, my eye dried out and when I took the contact out, I damaged my eye, requiring trips to the ophthalmologist and leaving my contacts out for weeks. I had it with glasses and contact lens.

I have to admit I was nervous when Dr. Ditkoff suggested lasik may be right for me. However, he assured me of how safe the procedure had become. I also had a great deal of confidence in his abilities and his experience. He performed a preliminary examination and concluded I was a good candidate for the procedure. He explained everything that would occur and answered all my questions.

On the day of the procedure, he patiently went through the process and reassured my anxieties. The procedure itself could not have gone more smoothly. It was over in minutes, and I returned the next day for a follow-up examination. The first morning I woke up, I instinctively reached over to the night table for my glasses when I realized I could see the time on the clock radio. It was really amazing. Taking a shower, I could see the writing on the shampoo bottle and saw body parts I did not know that I had. Lasik has to be the closest thing to a man-made miracle. Within a few weeks, my eyesight improved to 20/30 and now I just had my annual check-up, my eyes have actually improved to 20/20.

If you are considering a lasik procedure, I strongly recommend Dr. Robert Ditkoff.
